Website Revamp Consultant

About Musawah

Musawah (www.musawah.org) is a global movement for equality and justice in the Muslim family that advances rights for women living in Muslim contexts, in both their public and private lives.

We act to strengthen the movement, build knowledge and advocate for change in discriminatory laws and practices. Musawah was launched in February 2009 at a Global Meeting in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, that was attended by over 250 women and men from some 50 countries of Africa, Asia, Europe, the Middle East, North America and the Pacific.

About the Musawah Website Revamp Project

Musawah’s main website (www.musawah.org) is its premier digital home. It houses all the information regarding its origins, programme hubs and its activities, in addition to blogs and media kits, and its many resources such as knowledge briefs, policy briefs, books and other reports. Currently, the resources, which are Musawah’s unique wealth of knowledge, are relatively difficult to access and download by users.

In order to maintain and expand the organisation’s growth, Musawah is planning to undergo a website revamp exercise to increase its accessibility and visibility, and to incorporate best practices of user experience (such as simplified information architecture, enhanced search engine ranking and optimisation, and mobile navigation).

Musawah now welcomes proposals from feminist UX professionals, web design consultants and web developers to partner with Musawah in conceptualising and realising a new digital home for the organisation.

This website revamp will also integrate Musawah’s new brand guidelines that was developed in 2022. This will give Musawah a uniformed brand identity for both its offline and online assets.

Objectives

To achieve the intermediate outcome (IO1) under Musawah’s Theory of Change of expanding public discourse:

  • The website revamp is aimed to achieve better discoverability of Musawah’s working hubs and dissemination of its resources online.
  • Thus, the new website needs to be able to host all of the information in Musawah’s current website in a systematic, easy-to-navigate manner, with engaging content and visuals that represent Musawah as a leading and growing global movement.
  • The revamp also needs to futureproof the website by incorporating proper indexing for sections and pages that will be frequently updated (such as Resources and Blogs) and catering to two languages (English and Arabic), besides including best SEO and user behaviour practices.
