In January 2023, Musawah, in collaboration with Voix des Femmes, submitted a Joint Thematic Report on Mauritania to the CEDAW Committee for review during the 84th session. This report examines Mauritania’s legal framework and practices that enforce de jure and de facto discrimination against women in the following areas:
- Spousal Inequality and Consent to Marriage
- زواج القاصرات
- Divorce and Matrimonial Property
- تعدد الزوجات
- Custody, Guardianship and Nationality.
