In February 2020, Musawah submitted a Thematic Report on Afghanistan to the CEDAW Committee for review at its 75th Session in Geneva, Switzerland. This report examines Afghanistan’s legal frameworks and practices that enforce de jure and de facto discrimination against women in the following areas: discriminatory legal framework, child marriage, divorce rights, polygamy, inheritance and matrimonial assets, and guardianship of children. The report incorporates substantive inputs by women’s rights activists and issue experts in Afghanistan.
