Musawah Oral Statement on the United Arab Emirates (2022)

In May 2022, Musawah submitted a Thematic Report on the United Arab Emirates to the CEDAW Committee for review during the 82nd session. This report examines the UAE’s legal framework and practices that enforce de jure and de facto discrimination against women in the following areas: women’s capacity to enter into marriage; child, early and forced marriages; polygamy; violence against women; and nationality law.
