Country Table – Bahrain

About This Resource

In 2016, Musawah began compiling country tables containing an overview of legislative frameworks, available case law, policies, procedures and practices in the 12 principal areas of concern relating to Muslim family laws. Law reforms in multiple Muslim contexts proves that these laws are based on fiqh and thus not divine or unchangeable, and so must be reformed to address concerns and realities of people living today. This country table tracks Muslim family laws in Bahrain, and is updated as at 2021.

The country overview tables were prepared in consultation with national advocates and experts and are still work-in-progress given the diverse and evolving nature of law reform globally. Additional data analysis of these tables are ongoing.

The country table overview will be updated in Arabic soon.

For individual country overview tables, click here, and read the Positive Developments in Muslim Family Laws in ENGLISH or ARABIC.
