A Pharmacist and LLB undergraduate with a strong passion for writing.

Despite having a dynamic educational and professional background, what has remained common throughout my journey is my expression through writing. Whether it was creating health awareness campaigns for women as a Pharmacy student or drafting cases for women’s rights, it was always my love for writing that helped me get my message through. My core focus lies in advocating for women’s health and rights. I’ve authored several short stories on topics like domestic abuse and infertility, leveraging my health sciences education to identify the challenges women face and use storytelling to help them understand the root causes of their suffering.

I believe women embody incredible beauty and strength, carrying the essence of the world within them. Through my writing, I seek to explore and understand this profound reality, create a meaningful impact, raise awareness, foster understanding, and champion the rights of women everywhere.

SYNOPSIS

I have written about polygamy, drawing from real-life experiences that are so harrowing that they defy the label of a mere story. My focus in this work is on the profound effects that polygamy has on an individual’s health and well-being. Polygamy does not only alter a family structure but the whole chemistry of the human body. I’ve intentionally woven subtle details into the narrative, knowing that only those who have experienced or witnessed similar situations will truly notice them. However, I wouldn’t be surprised if these nuances go unnoticed, as just like in real life, people often become so absorbed in their own lives that they fail to see the struggles others endure.

EXCERPT

“My head is pounding with pain. Tea, coffee, painkillers nothing seems to help. Maybe a nap for an eternity will.” said Zara and I gave out a sigh of relief on finally hearing a sound.

I looked at her hoping for her to express more about how she felt while she brushed her hair. I turned my head to the right and noticed a clutter of unnecessary beauty products on her dressing table standing tall like skyscrapers. I was surprised that these products caught my attention given that I am always more interested in colourful makeup palettes rather than the plain white skincare bottles all claiming to change women’s lives. “Defying gravity with flawless faces!”, one of the product’s labels had written on it. But the fact that Zara owned all these was more surprising considering that I had always known her as someone who embraced her imperfections and was rarely bothered by any changes in her appearance. I asked myself whether insecurities were inevitable.  When I observed closely, I noticed she had started looking older than her age. Her skin was sagging causing her to frown. However, it made sense, for she had given birth to three babies in five years. While I observed the changes in her appearance, she ran out of the room realizing that she had left the stove on and I followed her towards the kitchen passing by the lounge where her husband was sitting.

“I think I’ll need two wives because apparently, one alone can’t handle the kitchen”, he said with a smirk.
