In February 2020, Musawah submitted a Thematic Report on Pakistan to the CEDAW Committee for review at its 75th Session in Geneva, Switzerland. This report examines Pakistan’s legal frameworks and practices that enforce de jure and de facto discrimination against women in the following areas: child marriage, forced marriage, polygamy, and unequal provisions for divorce under the Muslim family laws. The report incorporates substantive inputs by women’s rights activists and lawyers in Pakistan.
